Yutaka Taniyama

This a Japanese mathematician who is noted for his involvement in the TaniyamaShimura Conjecture which suggested the unexpected connection between Modular Forms and Eliptic Curves that came to heavily assist in the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem. I was introduced to him by a documentary about the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem by Andrew Wiles (which was lended to me by Richard Mattson of the KCAI Foundations faculty). I am not sure if it is the approach to Taniyama in the documentary or more innate reasons that draw me so strongly to this person, but it's enough to want to share him with everyone
